The turnaround is attributed to CyberAgent’s release of a smartphone version of the SNS / games platform, and improvements to the quality and management of the existing versions, which lead to improved revenue from Ameba titles and advertising. With the prior investment period for the smartphone version of Ameba also out of the way, the platform was able to turn a modest but important profit.

CyberAgent’s social applications and native applications were also profitable, yielding sales of 14.7 billion yen (a 6.6 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year) and operating profits of 2.1 billion yen (a 120.5 percent increase).
